Jam uary 11, 2010 16 degrees out ( again) guess I should say "Happy New Year"
....... how long is that appropriate anyway ? Is there a certain day we should stop saying it
.... I guess as a greeting, the 2nd of January would be a good cut off. Maybe for coworkers and other family we could extend thru the first week of the new year
...... for others - like extended family that we only see at the July 4th reunion - I guess it's not really necessary.
where does the time go ..... we're getting ready to flip the page
actually, more like replacing the whole thing.
.... I find that when it comes time to change MONTHS - I don't tear off the page til the next month starts ( probably a sign of wanting to finish projects on my list - or may be it's laziness)
.... on the other hand, when we change YEARS - the calendar is usually switched out on the last day before the new year. I like to think of it as a sign of renewal, hope
... then reality sets in - it's the easiest way to get rid of that unfinished project list. And it gives me a clean slate to start the new one.
.......... Lost Patrick Swayze this week and then Mary Travers .... both respected performers in their field. Would loved to have seen more from both of these people.... Patrick, way too young. Mary, she came from an era that is now relegated to PBS specials at the holidays ... or the Time-Life series of 60's music.
......Mary was a great singer/songwriter ... perfect for her time.....along with Peter and Paul she sang simple messages ... alot of times with social injust or political themes ...other times for the pure enjoyment of making words sing. We could all use some words that sing ..... better than words that destroy.
... Patrick (large sigh here). Red Dawn, North and South ..... I was still young enough to fall under his spell. And then to cement that "relationship" ..... Dirty Dancing and Roadhouse came along .... Yes, I was a dreamer, and those were the roles that made him the perfect - absolute - ultimate man at least in that young woman's eyes.
........Giving away Martins Gift Cards on the Lunchbreak ... thru 9/25/09
........Flashback Pop Quiz hotline is offering up a DS Game and Best Buy Gift Card. Listen for details.
..............Make sure you check out Harry Hartman's picture in the photo page .... Harry was the big winner of a Gibson SG Guitar from Flashback Pop Quiz, heard in the tri-state area exclusively on GO106.
..............A big blank .... that's pretty much what's on my mind right now....... Actually most days !
................The recipes at the bottom of the page ? .... haven't tried any of them .... let me know if they turn out to be something great ... I'll give you credit for them. I did notice that one of them is a Paula Deen dish. .... oohhh .... my kids hate that voice, so I use it as often as I can. And if punishment is called for .... I'll threaten to tie them to the couch and make them watch marathon sessions of Paul's cooking shows .... I believe in handing out the harshest possible sentences.
Hey Look I'm a Toon! They could have drawn me as Jessica Rabbit but NOOOOOOOoooo! hmmmm..... it's Lois Griffin, with my head ......where is that edit button?
Okay... Maybe Sweatin' to the oldies? A little better?
My feet really aren't that small, my head, not that big. But everything else is right on
